To serve everyone, we must be thoughtful about how our innovation is built and used.
"Ethics are how we behave when we choose to belong together" - Margaret Wheatley
We first created Occam with the mission to deliver care safely and timely to everyone. We soon realised that the best way to create Occam is to create it alongside our users - clinicians and patients- to ensure its responsible use. Therefore, we conduct Public-Patient Involvement (PPI) to listen to user feedback on a wide range of topics from design to language choices, health report format to font size.
We believe by co-developing Occam with the people, we are truly rooted to how it will impact the society and find ways to better it openly and transparently.
Clinical Safety
When we propose a new approach to solve a clinical problem, we often determine its effectiveness by how safe it is. In the field of healthcare, this means peer-reviewed research that objectively analyses its accuracy, reliability and reproducibility. As we gather robust evidence, we will seek to certify our proprietary triage tool as a Class 2A Medical Device through the MHRA.
As we design our pilot study, we focus on measuring quantitative outcomes that translate the clinical benefits into tangible results. These include:
  • Patient Activation Measure 13
  • Technology Acceptance Model
  • Cashable Savings for Public Health Systems
Technical Safety
As a new digital health company, we uphold data security and protection to the highest standards and assurances. To begin with, we are pro-active in assessing the security and reliability of our system. For that, we are working hard to certify Occam Health for NHS Digital DSP Toolkit.
We have also developed a system to manage clinical risk so that we are always prepared to contain the damage in time of a breach. We are compliant to the process and recommendation put in place by NHS Digital through DCB 0129 0160.
As we develop further, we are looking to be fortified by Cyber Essential+ Penetration and certified by ISO 27001 before we plug into NHS Personal Health Record API through HL-7 integration.
